To ensure effective plastic waste management, registration of all the producers of plastic materials besides brand owners in the State have to get themselves registered under the centralized portal developed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and with the Central Pollution Control Board. Director, Environment, Science Technology and Climate Change, D.C Rana, informed this in a meeting here today. So far 30 such producers have registered themselves, stated he.
The mechanism of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) was discussed and it was decided that Plastic Waste Processors active in the State of Himachal Pradesh need to be registered in all the districts. There is a need to create awareness amongst Producer, Importers and Brand Owner to register under the centralized portal.
The Regional Officer of Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board shall verify the information of Plastic Waste credits with respect to the plastic waste generated by the Producer, Importer and brand owners in Himachal Pradesh on actual basis.
Representatives of Action Alliance for Recycling Beverage Cartons (AARC) dealing with waste beverage cartoons, Pet Packaging Association For Clean Environment (PACE) dealing with pet bottles and Waste Efficient Collection And Recycling Efforts (WE Care) dealing with waste Multi layer plastic for effective Plastic Waste Management in the State attended the meeting.
