Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presided over the 52nd meeting of the Board of Directors (BoD) of the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) here on Friday late evening. He emphasized the importance of adopting the latest construction techniques and leveraging IT platforms to enhance its presence and service to the public. Additionally, the adoption of electronic measurement books (e-MBs) was recommended to streamline record-keeping and reduce the dependence on physical documentation. It was also directed to speed up the tendering process through the e-tendering system as per the latest guidelines from the Government.
Further directed that HIMUDA should continue to forge ahead with a vision of sustainable, inclusive urban development, and these decisions mark a significant stride toward that goal besides to improve the sizes of flats and make these more user friendly.
The Chief Minister reviewed all the projects of HIMUDA in detail and gave necessary directions. He said that HIMUDA should work in a competitive manner and take innovative initiatives in its projects. He also directed officials to organize exposure visits for the employees and take effective steps for capacity building.


Many significant decisions were made during the meeting that will shape the future of housing and urban development in the state. HIMUDA extended a generous hand to allottees across the state who had encountered disputes concerning payment dues. The Board of Directors approved a One-Time Settlement (OTS) policy, offering these individuals the opportunity to settle their long-pending payment dues at a significantly reduced rate. This policy not only eases the financial burden on the public but also provides HIMUDA with consolidated resources that can be reinvested in further activities for the greater good of the public.

The BoD directed to make a provision to regularize the attics of buildings under the One Time Settlement Policy and also to make its policy in accordance with the decision taken by the state government regarding the attic.
The Board gave the green signal for HIMUDA to acquire land for the establishment of the new township, “Mountain City,” near Jubbar-Hatti Airport, as a counter-magnet city to alleviate congestion in Shimla. This ambitious project is expected to invigorate economic activities and employment in the area while creating an ultra-modern city with state-of-the-art infrastructure, incorporating advanced seismic technology. The estimated cost of this endeavour is approximately Rs. 1373 crores.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Bharat Khera, Principal Secretary (Finance, Housing, UD & TCP), Devesh Kumar, Engineers-in-Chief from the HPPWD and the Jal Shakti Vibhag, CEO-cum-Secretary, Dr. R.K. Pruthi, attended the meeting amongst others. -0-
