The Alumni Committee of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, in collaboration with the Alumni Association of HPNLU Shimla (AAHS), a registered society, under the aegis of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice Chancellor of HPNLU, organized the University’s First Annual Alumni Meet on December 30, 2024. The event, held through an online platform, saw active participation from alumni and faculty members who engaged in discussions about the objectives and vision of the Alumni Association.

The Alumni Association of HPNLU Shimla (AAHS) was officially registered as a society on September 6, 2024, in Himachal Pradesh. The meet served as a platform to bring together alumni from various fields to discuss the direction and future activities of the association.

The event commenced with a welcome address from  Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice Chancellor of HPNLU Shimla. She extended her warm greetings to the members of the Alumni Association, urging them to strengthen the ties with their alma mater. Prof. Saxena emphasized the importance of organizing a physical gathering of alumni every second Saturday of April each year, encouraging the members to reconnect with their former classmates and mentors in person.

In her address, Prof. Saxena also highlighted the need for a comprehensive directory of alumni that includes details about their current professions and locations, facilitating better networking and engagement. She encouraged alumni to visit the University regularly and maintain strong connections with their professors and the institution, ensuring the spirit of HPNLU continues to thrive in their professional journeys.

The gathering was also addressed by Prof. S.S. Jaswal, Registrar and Professor at HPNLU Shimla, who spoke about the remarkable growth of the University since its establishment in 2016. Prof. Jaswal expressed his gratitude towards the alumni and their families for placing their trust in the young institution, highlighting the tremendous infrastructural and academic advancements made over the years. He also extended a warm welcome to all members of the Alumni Association.

Dr. Sahil Malhotra, President of the Alumni Association and a practicing advocate at the Himachal Pradesh High Court, delivered a significant address outlining the mission and future course of action for the association. Dr. Malhotra shared plans for organizing a major alumni conference and connecting more alumni with the association. He also proposed the idea of inviting non-HPNLU alumni into the fold, emphasizing inclusivity. One of the key initiatives discussed was the publication of an alumni journal to keep members updated on the achievements and developments within the community.

Mr. Shubham Mahajan, Vice President of the Alumni Association, also took the opportunity to thank the University for providing an online platform to hold this crucial event. He emphasized how such initiatives were vital in keeping alumni connected with the institution and each other.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Santosh Kumar Sharma, Dean Academics at HPNLU Shimla. Dr. Sharma thanked the participants for their invaluable contributions to the meeting and expressed his appreciation for the alumni’s continuous support in the growth of HPNLU. The event was successfully organized by Dr. Aayush Raj, Assistant Professor (Law) at HPNLU, who coordinated the online meet and ensured the smooth flow of the discussions.

This Annual Alumni Meet marks a significant step in fostering a strong and enduring relationship between HPNLU Shimla and its alumni. The Alumni Association aims to continue its efforts in supporting the University’s growth while providing alumni with opportunities for professional development and networking.
