Shimla Police has arrested four youths from Punjab with 170 grams of chitta in Sanjauli Chowk. According to sources, the accused have been involved in this chitta smuggling business for a long time and were bringing chittas from Punjab and selling them in Shimla.

In the capital Shimla, youth are being made addicted to drugs by smuggling chittas from Punjab. The district police succeeded in arresting one such interstate gang on Thursday evening. The district police arrested four youths from Punjab with 170 grams of chitta in Sanjauli Chowk on Thursday. The value of the chitta is said to be Rs 5 to 6 lakh. All four accused are residents of Punjab.A case has been registered on 05.07.2024 u/s 21, 29 ND&PS Act.During patrolling and on secret information near Chaulanthi, police recovered 169gm heroin/chitta in vehicle number PB02CQ-5374 I-20 from the possession of Rahul, Anil, Deepak and Karan all resident of Amritsar Punjab.
This is inter state Drug peddlers suppliers gang.
The value of the Contraband is 25 to 30 Lakkhs.The police had received secret information that youths from Punjab are smuggling chitta and selling it to the youths of Sanjauli and surrounding areas. Based on the information, police teams set up blockades at various places. Before this, the police caught the four accused while they were supplying chitta to the drug addicts. The police have arrested the four accused and also confiscated the vehicle used in smuggling. In this regard, an FIR has been registered at Dhali police station and action has been initiated.
This year in the Past 6 months, Shimla Police have arrested 235 Drugs peddlers.
Property worth 2 crores is being investigated to trace the drug money links.
