295 crore rupees will be spent on construction of tunnel
Provision of Rs 23 crore for the project of underground wires in the city

State government will construct 890 meter long double lane tunnel from Nav Bahar Petrol Pump to Circular Road to Medical College Shimla to solve traffic problem in Shimla city. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said this today while presiding the meeting of Public Works Department.
The Chief Minister said the tunnel will be constructed at a cost of Rs 295 crore, out of which Rs 100 crore has already been issued and the tender process will begin by the end of this month. He said the state government is seriously trying to resolve various problems in Shimla city, to provide the best facilities to locals as well as tourists visiting here.
They instructed the Department of Public Works to remove all obstacles on circular road to ensure smooth transport of vehicles. The land acquisition process will begin within a week. He said Rs. 122 crore has been allocated to widen and strengthen the circular road. Parking related infrastructure will also be strengthened and parking facility will be created for 3000 additional vehicles.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu said the state government is working diligently on the plan to remove overhead wires in Shimla city. The underground duct will be laid for electrical cable and optical fiber. The initial phase of this project will focus specifically on Mal Road, Lower Market and Middle Market areas and around 23 crore rupees will be spent. They instructed the Department of Public Works to ensure quality work in all projects, to benefit the provinces.
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, MLA Harish Janaratha, Chief Secretary Devesh Kumar and Dr. Amandeep Garg, Chief Minister Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, Chief Engineer Lok N. What. Singh, Chief Chief Aranyapal, Forest, Rajiv Kumar and other senior officers were present.
