The 8th edition of the Intra Moot Court Competition at Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice- Chancellor, HPNLU, commenced today with remarkable enthusiasm and a record-breaking participation of 324 students in more than 100 teams, from various batches of the university, mooting in 5 rounds spread across 2 days (2nd and 3rd May, 2025).

Participants demonstrated commendable legal knowledge, advocacy skills, and courtroom decorum, reflecting the academic rigor and professional training imparted at HPNLU. This flagship co-curricular event remains a vital part of the university’s academic culture, providing aspiring legal professionals with a platform to engage with complex legal problems in a simulated court environment.

Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, Shimla, the University is proud to announce the remarkable achievement of its student team at the 32nd Annual William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Vienna.
Competing against 385 premier institutions from around the globe, the HPNLU team earned an impressive 85th international rank, affirming the University’s growing presence on the global legal education map. The team scored a commendable 2112 out of 2400 points, showcasing excellence in legal research, drafting, and oral advocacy.
The student team comprising Shivam Kapoor- 2nd Year(Batch of 2028, B.A.LL.B.), Toshya Sidana- 3rd Year (Batch of 2027, B.A.LL.B.), Utkarsh Tyagi- 2nd Year(Batch of 2028, B.B.A.LL.B.), Morvi Sharma- 2nd Year(Batch of 2028, B.B.A.LL.B.), Aashi- 2nd Year (Batch of 2028, B.A.LL.B.), Bani Chahal- 3rd Year (Batch of 2027, B.A.LL.B.) represented HPNLU with exceptional dedication and skill. Their participation not only reflects the high academic standards maintained at HPNLU but also underlines the commitment of the University to nurture globally competitive legal professionals.
The entire HPNLU community extends heartfelt congratulations to the team and acknowledges the efforts of the faculty members and mentors who guided and supported them throughout their journey.
This achievement marks another milestone in HPNLU’s pursuit of academic and professional excellence on the international stage.
This year’s edition is one of the largest intra-university moot court competitions ever conducted at HPNLU. The event is a testament to the university’s commitment to fostering critical thinking, effective communication, and collaborative learning among its students.
The competition will be conducted over two days, on the 2nd and 3rd of May 2025. The advancing rounds will further test the skills of the participants and culminate in the identification of the most promising mooters of the university.
