The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Himachal Pradesh, has secured a conviction in Vigilance Case FIR No. 01/2008, registered under Sections 409 and 120B of IPC and Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at SV&ACB Police Station, Solan.
The case stemmed from a complaint by the Director, Animal Husbandry Department, alleging misappropriation of ₹1,78,699 under a seed distribution scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers. Investigation revealed that Sh. Hari Dutt Sharma, then cashier, failed to deposit ₹1,69,329 between 2003 and 2004. Additionally, ₹15,822 was found in the possession of Sh. Daya Nand Garg, Agriculture Extension Officer, Darlaghat.
On 26.06.2025, both accused were convicted by the Hon’ble Court, Solan. Hari Dutt Sharma was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment and ₹50,000 fine under IPC 409 and 2 years under the PC Act. Daya Nand Garg received 3 years and ₹10,000 fine under IPC 409 and 2 years under Section 13(1)(c) of the PC Act.
Departmental action has been recommended against negligent supervisory officers.
