- सर्दियों में प्रवासी पक्षियों की बढ़ी विविधता; वन्यजीव विभाग ने गोंडली पौधारोपण की शुरू की पहल, सांगला घाटी में पर्यटन को भी मिलेगा बढ़ावा

सांगला घाटी के बसपा नदी तट पर स्थित कुप्पा डैम क्षेत्र इन दिनों प्रवासी पक्षियों का पसंदीदा ठिकाना बनता जा रहा है। यहां पर पक्षियों की विविधता में उल्लेखनीय बढ़ोतरी दर्ज की गई है। इसका मुख्य कारण है—मालस बैकाटा, जिसे स्थानीय किन्नौरी बोली में गोंडली कहा जाता है। इसके लाल-गुलाबी फलों को प्रवासी पक्षी कड़ाके की सर्दियों में भरपूर मात्रा में खा रहे हैं।
वन्यजीव विभाग की टीम, रेंज ऑफिसर संतोष ठाकुर के नेतृत्व में, लंबे समय से इन प्रवासी पक्षियों के भोजन व्यवहार पर अध्ययन कर रही थी। शोध के आधार पर विभाग ने अपने नर्सरी क्षेत्र में गोंडली के पौधों का उत्पादन शुरू किया है, ताकि अधिक संख्या में प्रवासी पक्षियों को कुप्पा डैम क्षेत्र में आकर्षित किया जा सके और साथ ही सांगला घाटी में पर्यटन गतिविधियों को भी बढ़ावा मिल सके।
इस दौरान जिन प्रमुख प्रवासी पक्षियों की बढ़ी मौजूदगी दर्ज हुई है, उनमें शामिल हैं—
Red-throated Thrush
Yellow-billed Chough
White-collared Blackbird
Kuppa Dam emerges as a thriving paradise for migratory birds – Significant rise in bird diversity along the Baspa River in Sangla Valley.
Local Gondli (Malus baccata) becomes a key winter food source – Its bright red berries are being heavily consumed by migratory birds during the cold months.
Wildlife Department’s research-driven initiative – Under the leadership of Range Officer Shri Santosh Thakur, a detailed study on migratory birds’ food patterns was conducted, leading to the cultivation of this plant species in nursery form.
Aimed at boosting both bird conservation and tourism – The initiative is expected to attract more migratory birds to the Kuppa Dam area and enhance tourist footfall in Sangla Valley.
