Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, successfully organized a SamvidhanDivas Lecture on “75 Years of the Indian Constitution” on 25 November 2025 in hybrid mode. The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Faizan Mustafa, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CNLU Patna, as the Chief Guest, who delivered the keynote address.

HPNLU Shimla Commemorates NCC Day with Enthusiastic Cadet Participation
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, proudly marked NCC Day with a vibrant celebration organised by the 7th HP (I) Coy NCC. The event witnessed the active participation of 23 cadets, 14 girl cadets and 9 boy cadets, who took part in painting and speech competitions on the theme “Role of NCC in Nation Building.”A total of 10 cadets participated in the speech competition, while 13 cadets showcased their creativity in painting, making the programme a significant platform to reflect the NCC’s core values of discipline, leadership, patriotism, unity, service, and national pride.
The celebration highlighted the dedication, enthusiasm, and creative expression of the cadets as they articulated and depicted the pivotal role of the National Cadet Corps in shaping responsible and nation-oriented youth. Through thoughtful speeches and impressive artworks, the cadets demonstrated a profound understanding of how NCC training cultivates character, fosters civic responsibility, and inspires commitment to national service.
The event concluded with words of appreciation for the cadets’ spirited participation and reaffirmed HPNLU’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote holistic development, civic sense, and national consciousness among its students.
Commencing the event, Dr. Santosh Kumar Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, highlighted the significance of SamvidhanDivas and the continuing relevance of constitutional literacy in strengthening democratic values.
In her Welcome Address, Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor reiterated HPNLU’s commitment to fostering critical engagement with constitutional principles and commemorating the visionary contributions of the framers of the Constitution. She underscored the importance of reflecting on constitutional developments over the past 75 years, particularly in the context of contemporary legal and social challenges.
Delivering the Chief Guest Address, Prof. (Dr.) Faizan Mustafa provided an insightful and scholarly exposition on the evolution of the Indian Constitution since its adoption in 1950. He discussed key constitutional milestones, transformative judicial pronouncements, and the vibrant democratic ethos that continues to shape India’s constitutional journey. Prof. Mustafa also highlighted the enduring relevance of constitutional morality, federalism, and fundamental rights in ensuring justice, liberty, and equality for all citizens.
The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Girjesh Shukla, Registrar who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, students, and participants joining both online and offline.
HPNLU, Shimla continues to uphold its commitment to academic excellence and constitutional values, marking Samvidhan Divas as a moment of reflection, learning, and reaffirmation of the principles that guide the nation.
